1. 🏦 Bank of America Open to Stablecoin Launch

   Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan stated that the bank would enter the stablecoin market if US regulations permit it. Speaking at the Economic Club of Washington DC, he said BoA could offer dollar-backed tokens linked to deposit accounts.

2. ⚖️ SEC Drops Probe Into Uniswap

   Uniswap Labs announced that the SEC has ended its probe into the firm without pursuing enforcement action. The investigation began in April 2024 under Gary Gensler. The SEC has yet to issue an official statement, but similar cases against Coinbase, Robinhood Crypto, and OpenSea are also reportedly being closed.

3. 🕵️ Bybit Hack Linked to Lazarus Group via SafeWallet Breach

   Forensic investigations confirmed that North Korea’s Lazarus Group stole over $1.4 billion in Ether by compromising SafeWallet credentials. SafeWallet has since rebuilt its infrastructure and enhanced security. Bybit’s systems were not affected.

4. 📉 Memecoin Hype Fades as Pump.fun Listings Drop

   Successful Pump.fun token listings have dropped over 80% since January, with daily completions falling from 1,200 to 200. Total launches also declined from 70,000 to 25,000, per Dune Analytics.

5.  🚫 MEME Act Seeks to Ban Public Officials from Launching Memecoins

   House Democrats plan to introduce the MEME Act, banning public officials from profiting from digital assets like TRUMP.Rep. Sam Liccardo said the bill would prohibit officials from issuing, sponsoring, or endorsing

   cryptocurrencies, adding, “Let’s make corruption criminal again.”

6. 📜 Nasdaq Files for Approval of Grayscale’s Polkadot ETF

   Nasdaq has filed to list the Grayscale Polkadot Trust as an ETF, adding to the growing list of altcoin ETF applications awaiting SEC approval. If approved, it would expand Grayscale’s lineup of publicly traded crypto funds.

Narrative Of The Week: Bybit’s Billion Dollar Hack

Bybit got hit with a $1.5B hack this week, but instead of chaos, they kept it cool. Here’s what happened:

Safe’s Slip-Up: The Lazarus Group exploited malware on a dev’s machine, draining Bybit’s cold wallet.

Smooth Recovery: No panic, no market meltdown—Bybit tapped reserves from other exchanges to cover up their deficit.

Payback & Rumors: They’ve already started repaying those loans, but whispers are swirling that a market liquidation was triggered to cover Bybit’s forced ETH short from the hack.

A $1.5B hack could’ve been a disaster, but Bybit played it smart. If anything, they just set the new standard for crisis management in crypto.
