1. 📉 US CPI Comes in Low

   Lower inflation increases chances of Fed rate cuts, which could boost crypto. Despite this, Bitcoin fell from $84K to $83K amid Trump’s trade policies. Analysts speculate Trump may be pressuring markets to force rate cuts.

2. ⏳ SEC Delays Decision on Fidelity Ether ETF Options

   The SEC delayed its decision to list options on Fidelity’s Ether ETF until May 14. The SEC has been reviewing multiple crypto ETF filings, signaling a softer stance since Trump’s second term began. It will also decide in April on Nasdaq’s request to list options on BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust.

3. 🛠️ Ethereum Delays Pectra Upgrade

   The Ethereum Pectra upgrade, has been delayed until at least late April. Developers are launching a third testnet, Hoodi, after previous testnets encountered bugs. If Pectra runs smoothly on Hoodi, a mainnet launch could happen by April 25. The delay stems from issues on the Holesky and Sepolia testnets.

4. 📊 Hyperliquid Raises Margin Requirements After $4M Liquidation Loss

   A trader’s $200M Ether liquidation on March 12 caused a $4M loss to Hyperliquid’s liquidity pool. To reduce risk, the exchange will enforce a 20% collateral margin on some trades starting March 15.

5.  ⛽ Ethereum Gas Fees Plunge 95% One Year After Dencun Upgrade

   Ethereum gas fees have dropped 95% since the Dencun upgrade in 2024, which improved scalability and reduced costs. Average swap fees fell from $86 to just $0.39, and NFT sales now cost $0.65 in gas, thanks to lower network congestion.

Stablecoins just went from background players to the main event. This week saw a major push to bring them under official regulation. Here’s what you need to know:

The Big Vote: On March 13, the Senate Banking Committee passed the GENIUS Act with an 18-6 vote, setting the stage for stablecoin regulations.

The Fine Print: Stablecoin issuers under $10B get state level oversight, while bigger players face strict federal rules, like required reserves, audits, and AML/KYC compliance. Breaking the rules will result to a $100K per day fine.

Debate Heats Up: As the bill heads to the Senate floor, the fight is on. Sen. Warren warns of a Big Tech takeover, while others argue this could be crypto’s ticket to mainstream adoption.

Stablecoin issuers help fuel U.S. debt markets and strengthen the dollar’s dominance. But without regulation, they can’t scale. This bill could unlock their full potential, if it passes.
